.htaccess – i want a html splash page while keeping index.php

    i need to have my wordpress install in the root, but i need another page as a splash page (index.html), totally different from my wordpress home (index.php) this step has to be there for the client. can i change the .htaccess some how to do this without messing up the loop or redirect things that are in there?
