htaccess files

  • I’m not going to lie…I can’t comprehend the HTAccess file. I have a few questions: First, why do I have the same information multiple times? And is anything in the code below that would cause my posts not show unless I clear the cache? I have to clear the cache every time I create a post. This just started happening and is an inconvenience. I’m attaching my htaccess file for super cache below:

  • Hi Jenny,
    For the problem of having to clear the cache each time you publish/edit a post: There is a setting in WP Super Cache (see the “Advanced” tab, found in WPSC plugin settings…) that you can tick so that it will automatically clear it whenever a post is published/edited (…there’s also a box for mobile sites – so if you have a mobile version of your site you need to tick that box too… but if not, you need to untick it).

    As for whether your htaccess is correct I can’t help you (I’m not a coder – yet lol!) but after you’ve ticked the box for automatic clearance when publishing posts, press “save” & then below that area is an option to re-write the wp-super-cache code that’s injected into your htaccess file – (btw, you can do this anytime you want/need – it won’t hurt your site. If you used the BPS Security plugin then you’d have to re-do it after every BPS plugin upgrade, so don’t stress about doing it). After you re-do the WPSC code then you should be right.

    Thanks karban! You are the first person EVER to respond to my post in this forum. However, your suggestion didn’t work for some reason. I’ll give you additional information. I am using multisite. On the main blog of my network I had checked the clear when post is published/edited. But it was checked on the blog I was having trouble with. I checked it and updated setting, but it still didn’t work. Not sure where to go from here.
