Htaccess and Falcon?

    Currently the basic caching is running on my site. I’d like to try out Falcon Engine, but I am not technically wise. I am just a guy with a blog. What can go wrong with Falcon that I have to download a backup of my htaccess file? Would a not tech person like me be able to resolve the issue if something did go wrong?

    Also, in February (before I was using WordFence) my site was a victim of a DDoS attack. In response my webhost had me block some ip addresses by using the htaccess file. They had me write some other stuff on there as well. Will that information be over written?

    Falcon uses the htaccess file to write some rules there that control the caching, enable compression, etc. We ask you to make a backup because on rare occasions the file won’t be written to completely (again, this is rare) and if you need to quickly revert, all you have to do is replace the new .htaccess file with your backup.

    I believe the additions your hosting company made will not be overwritten, however since you have a backup those can be added back. If your hosting company needs the file to help, you can send them the backup.

    Very true.

    Its up and running. Looks good and according to gtmetrix.com/ Falcon took two additional seconds off the load time compared to the basic caching. Nice.
