• Just started all this yesterday. I have wordpress-dashboard installed at a hosting service for my web site. I am working as “admin” to build the page and have gotten most of what I need done, but now I need the Visual Editor and I can’t access it. I have read through the link here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/missing-visual-editor/ BUT that did not work. Perhaps this ‘tool’ or ‘widget’ is not part of the default package? Help anybody?

  • I am having the same problem, have been asking for help with this since yesterday and no-one is replying.
I have one toolbar working… the ‘show kitchen sink’ icon is NOT even visible…
The toolbar is only visible when I click HTML … when I click VISUAL , it’s empty.
I have deactivated all plugins, cleared cache, everything – nothing has worked……

switch to default twenty ten theme see if you still have the same problem.

Will try that now, thanks again for replying so quickly. much appreciated.

Ok, checked and still same problem……so what does that mean?

Was just check ing see if there was problem with the theme you using.

Only other thing I can think of is to replace all wordpress files and folders by downloading fresh copy except for your wp-content folder and wp-config.php file.

May there are some files are corrupted during install.

Would you like to take a look?

all this post you put but have not posted your url lets your url see if it is working.

You meet me in skype if you want I have skype on my website click on my name.

OK, I am following this thread. the re-install option is one I hoped to avoid. Please let me know if that works- or if something else does!

    UPDATE
A friend of mine says that the visual editor does not work in some browsers!

Specifically, I am using ubuntu/kde (gad i hate windoze!) and the Konqueror browser, since it uses less system resources than FireFox, but apparently FF runs the visual editor by default- and STILL does not have the ‘dot’ icon with the others on the Edit page.

    Maybe some clues??

    Another detail
FF has a ‘toggle’ at the upper-R corner of the editing window to swap between visual/HTML. This is not present in the Konqueror browser.

SO- Babble- try a different browser. And BTW- you should get FF anyway if you don’t already have it. It will run on any platform (except maybe SUN, but who uses that anymore?).
