• As you may have realized your weblog can handle external categorized links (See link “Links” in your admin area if you don’t know what I mean). The Click-Counter plugin written by Ozh (Link to the plugin’s page) does only count clicks in comments or posts. Now I have patched wp-includes/links.php and the plugin file wp-ozh_clickcounter.php to get also these nice click counters on my links.

You can download my package from my weblog:
    https://blog.mxchange.org/links-patch.zip

You need WordPress 2.0.4 for this patch.

This patch adds a filter called “wp_links” to filter these external links. So I hope the WP team will apply my patch on their next version to make such click counters or “link modifier plugins” working. ??

You may want checkout my weblog to see a demo of this patch.

    Cheers,
    Quix0r

I have updated my patch. It tracks now the commentator’s website which s/he can enter in the form. My patched version of the click counter encodes the URL with Base-64 encoding to avoid some trouble with “Cracker Tracker” scripts (see: Poland and Perl are ending with .pl). go.php is decoding it again before it counts the click. ??

Okay, you will find these external on my blog in normal view. I have deactivated the plugin because it kills the “interconnectivity” of blogs and that is what I don’t want. ??

You may want to use the “JS-mode” (see settings area) to get Google and Technorati index and follow your linked pages.
