• Hi, I want to creat a child theme for the theme Athena-Pro, but when I do all my settings are lost for the theme. How can I prevent this? Where are the settings for themes stored, is it possible to just copy and paste the settings file from the main theme to the child theme so I can keep all my settings?

  • Here’s a awesome link. This will show you an example of how to create a child theme

One of the oddities of a child theme is that it’s considered to be a separate theme, so WordPress won’t automatically carry over settings from Dashboard > Appearance > Customize or any other theme option pages. The settings are usually stored in the database, but I don’t recommend messing around in there unless you know what you’re doing. (Since you appear to be using the premium version of the theme, your theme’s authors will be able to guide you if you do decide to go this route.)
