    Hi

    I was just wondering how to clean up the database of old information? Like old theme names, unused plugins, etc

    Technically, plugins should be completely uninstalling themselves when deactivated, but as you can see, not every developer has coded the necessary functionality.

    Unused plugins and themes add such a trivial amount of data, that you probably shouldn’t worry about it. But, if you’re determined, backup your database, access it via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel) and starting hacking and slashing away.

    Exactly where do I go after login phpMyAdmin and what do I look for specifically? The names of the plugins/themes?

    That all depends on the specific plugins and themes. Try searching for the names first.

    You can Clean Options ? WordPress Plugins, but backup and read the docs for the plugin. Some plugins add their tables to the database, like search and stat plugins, so be sure the table you delete isn’t a WP one: Database Description ? WordPress Codex
