• If you are using DHCP dynamically generated IP which changes every Router reboot how can we white-list our own PC so we are not locked out.

Are we talking about the IP of our host as shown in CPanel which if on a shared hosting package (which most are using) then its not being used by us exclusively. Can you clarify how we ‘white-list’ ourselves.

I’m keeping this plugin disabled until this is clear – from other threads i see many users locked out of their own sites with this plugin!!

  • You may find a piece of the puzzle in this topic.

To prevent any confusion, I’m not iThemes.

    Ok,
    followed this:

Make sure the iTSec plugin uses the right method for determining a client IP address. Have a look at the Proxy Detection setting in the Global Settings module. You’ll probably need to change it from (default) Automatic to something else (depends on your setup).

… and we set it to ‘Disabled’ since we are not behind a proxy; does this mean we can use our domain-name instead of the IP in the white-list box???

Ok, so you have made sure the plugin is able to determin the correct client IP for every request.

does this mean we can use our domain-name instead of the IP in the white-list box???

    No, only IPs are accepted.

Another piece of the puzzle is in this topic.
