    Hi

I’m up and running pretty well and using a custom theme from Mojo

Im having problems with HTML and validation.

When I go to W3C and validate I get a significant number of errors.

I’m ok with HTML and so I go to my visual editor and correct the tags and errors I can see.

Trouble is I cant see all the tags that are actually present.

For example when I use Firebug I can see that a number of <P> tags exist – some of them not closed – but they dont show up in visual ed.

Is there a way to view and edit the REAL FULL HTML? such as a plugin or adding to the visual editor? I also have Dreamweaver if any use.

    Big thanks

  • Revert to Twenty Twelve (unedited, updated) theme and try to validate. That will tell you to some extend if all the markup errors are caused by your theme.

    Hi Krishna

Really appreciate your response. I am learning all the time!

I swapped the theme back to 2012 and the validation errors are not repeated.

I guess what you are teaching me is that these kinds of HTML tags are generated dynamically by the theme and so there isn’t a way to edit them – the theme code would need to be amended.

Just a final question: When you are buying a premium theme is there a way to frame the question about validation errors that will get you some kind of reassurance before you buy?

    Thanks

I am sorry, I cannot give any recommendation in this regard. But there are important things like how technically efficient the theme developer is and most importantly how you use the theme, especially when it comes to modifications/customizations, etc.

Now, as you know from which sources markup errors can crop up, it will be better to try different themes so that you will be more knowledgeable about such errors and how to avoid them.
