Hello, I’m hoping somebody can help a technophobe like me who is trying her very best…

Domainnz (melbourneit) set up my website for me a couple of years ago, but won’t follow through on what they promised to deliver with my website – I never got a domain email address made so I have been using a gmail account for my very small business.

I’m trying to change it myself to a google business email so my business appears more professional and so I can set up e-newsletters for my website, but in order to do this I need to Upload the HTML verification file to my website, but I can’t figure out how. I have been hunting and hunting for online help but I can’t find anything. I also don’t want to change anything in case it screws up my site, as I can’t fix it myself and I can’t afford ongoing support.

My domain provider has changed hands and they won’t help me. I can’t even log in with them. No email support.

How do I upload the verification code to my root folder?

    Please help…

  • Your domain registrar has nothing to do with this. Use FTP for your webhost. See Filezilla and FTP Clients ? WordPress Codex. Or use your web host’s file manager in your control panel.

First… did you try logging in to your Domainnz hosting account by selecting the “My Account” tab at the very top of their site? (https://www.domainz.net.nz/ or https://www.melbourneit.com.au/)??
For Domainnz, a small pop-up window should appear where you can input your username and password.

Getting into your account is the best way to enter the verification and to see if you have the ability to create email accounts.

If you cannot, and your account is paid in full, then you should contact them (Domainz) from their home page section “Got a question? Just ask us”.

Also, what is your site’s url (address)?

Thank you for your replies, I can’t long in with them because my domain isn’t registered with them directly and they never gave me a user or password. I searched who hosts my site and it’s not them…

    Bendrclothing.com

Does that mean my website isn’t hosted and I need to apply a host before I can do anything else?

You can’t have a website without a webhost. Your DNS shows the host as quickstart.net.nz, and that redirects to Domainnz, so contact them to get hosting information.

According to Whois (domaintools) – https://whois.domaintools.com/bendrclothing.com – your hosting information is hidden.

When you purchased your domain in 2013, you should have gotten an email with username/password because it would have been the only way to install WordPress, your theme (https://www.wpzoom.com/themes/originmag) and then, through WordPress, post all the content you have on your site.

If I were you, I would contact both https://www.domainz.net.nz/ and https://www.melbourneit.com.au/, explain your position, ask them if you are registered there, and if so, ask for the username/password to your account.
