Forgive my ignorance, but I need some education on how this plugin works. There isn’t much description on what the four tracking options are. Please tell me if the following description is a correct understanding:

If I use Default tracking, this is simply keeping a count of how many people click on the RSS image link I have put in the top of my page:
    https://www.earthmedresearch.org/mock-article-going-get-delivered-not-trying/
This link does nothing but open up a page that looks like gibberish code to most people, but savvy people then take that url and use it to follow my site with their favorite feed reader. People who know nothing about RSS may just click on the icon out of curiosity and then say, “what the heck is this?”, and then go back. This method is inaccurate for three reasons:

    1. The spurious clicks by non-RSS savvy people who are just curious inflate the count.
    2. The fact that even RSS savvy people might not actually add the feed to their feed reader. A click does not guarantee that. More inflation.
    3. Even if a person adds the url to their feed reader, it does not mean they stay subscribed forever.

So if I understand correctly, this is only some kind of loose indication of subscribers, but not at all accurate, and always inflated compared to the true count. Have I got this all right or wrong?

Am I correct in thinking that the Strict Reporting option just does not multiple-count clicks on my RSS icon that are coming from the same IP on the same day? This could on;y make the count more accurate, so I do not understand why it is even an option.

So all this leaves me feeling like the other tracking options you have must be what I am looking for, but don’t know it. Are they meant to somehow track subscribers by detecting their activity within their actual feed readers? Could you say more about this and how to use it and give an example line of code or whatever I need to put in some of your text fields? And could you say something about how such a method would or would not account for people unsubscribing from my feed within their feed reader?

    Thanks,
    David
