    Hi

I’m loving SSS on my post pages, but unsure how to use it correctly on the Home and Category pages…

On those pages, Facebook share (for example) automatically picks up the content of the oldest post. Ideally, though, I’d like it to display content that’s more representative of the whole page, but I can’t see a way to make that happen.

Of course this is probably not really about SSS, but about WP’s available settings for those pages that SSS can leverage. Either way, any tips please for optimising social sharing of Home and Category pages?

    Examples:

    Thanks ??

    Hi,

Sorry, for now you can’t do anything about it. We will improve it in next release which is going to be within next 7 days.
    Please bear with us.

    Hi again

On further investigation, I’m now more confused.

Examining my Home page https://shrinkwrap.blog using my browser’s F12 developer tools, I can see that the OpenGraph info is set correctly (via Yoast SEO plugin). e.g. The share image and title are correct in the code.

However, SSS is not using this OpenGraph info. SSS is selecting different OG info, from elsewhere.

Where? Why? Have I done something wrong in SSS setup, or is this a bug?

To be extra certain that the OG info is correct on the page, I used ‘Show existing scrape information’ and ‘Fetch new scrape information’ on Facebook’s debugger (https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/). Sure enough, it displays correctly under “…below preview is what users will see when they share this URL”.

How is it possible for SSS to be getting this wrong?

Thanks for your guidance or a remedy.

    Hi @stephcthomp,

Sorry for being late. We have just released version 2.5.6 of the plugin. Updating your plugin to this version should resolve both of your issues.
