I wanted to move my really old wp site to a far cheaper and newer ISP, but was told that the ISP is using an ancient version of PHP and its sold old that they wouldn’t be able to do so. I’m of course concerned that some of the add-ons would not just break but take down many very intricate pages that spent many hours each on building for the blog that goes back to 2009. And there is a whole lot of content.

Is it possible that I might be able to find somebody whose running intermediate PHP versions out there that I could migrate the database to and slowly get it up to a latest version without seismic impacts?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Yes, there are many people who could update your site. However, you cannot hire anyone on this forum. It is against the rules. You can post an ad for help at jobs.wordpress.net

The task of upgrading your site will affect all elements of your website:

    Most likely your theme
    Your plugins
    WordPress core
    The database
    Version of PHP

    Good luck!

thanks for your response somebody has contacted me about this already so yes, I’m very concerned as I’m in a catch 22 with the old ISP who charges a fortune for what is now a rather modest sized site compared to the pricing of 20 years ago where I was considered huge for having 7 gigs online.
