How To Upgrade WAMP components, leaving WP files intact?
-
I’d like to upgrade my current WAMP environment, but not WP (am currently running 3.3.2).
At this point, I’ve done the following:
I’ve copied all files and the directory structure of the WP directory tree (c:\wamp\www\blog\…” to a removable disk.
I’ve backed up my database (I have two sets of backups – backups made by phpMyAdmin and backups made by mysqldump. The database backups are approx 8 MB.
In addition, just to be safe, I’ve copied the entire c:\wamp directory tree to a removable disk.
Now, how should I proceed?
Can I just uninstall the current WAMP and reinstall the new WAMP without it clobbering the existing database?
Or, must I uninstall the WAMP components (inc the database), reinstall the new WAMP, and import the database backup?
Or, have I missed something obvious?
Thanks, in advance,
Michael
