  • Hi @avantprime

The Safe Mode is usually shown when a website is cloned while Jetpack is still connected, for which case you will have to click on the Fix Jetpack’s Connection button to sort that out.

You will then have the option to either Start Fresh, which will start tracking stats, subscribers, and other Jetpack-related data from the very beginning so you’ll start over.

Or you can Migrate the Stats and Subscribers; this is further illustrated in our guide:

    https://jetpack.com/support/safe-mode/

Either way, we can assist if your stats or subscribers are lost; however, do reach out to us here and mention your website URL and the other site involved.

The site was cloned, but the clone was supposed to be the replacement.

Unfortunately, the clone was selected to be in safe mode. This is not what is required.

How can I correct this to ensure that the clone now becomes the valid site?

Could you post your site URLs (original + cloned URL), so I can have a look?

If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form.

    Here is the scenario:

    1. Site was running on Cloud Platform 1 (CP1) (www.wakeuplookandsee.com)
    2. Site was cloned on Cloud Platform 2 (CP2)
    3. Jetpack started complaining on CP2. I have never encountered this error before. The site was put into safe more on CP2.
    4. Site on CP1 was decommissioned. No longer running.
    5. Site on CP2 now gets an error on Jetpack dashboard. “Jetpack encountered an error and was unable to display the Dashboard. Please try refreshing the page.”

How do I get the site on CP2 out of safe mode?

    Thanks

    Hello @avantprime,

I checked the Jetpack connection for https://www.wakeuplookandsee.com and I can see that everything seems to be working okay now.

Since you didn’t share the URL for the CP2 site, I made some digging and I found this URL: https://www.absoluteinsights.io/

Does it ring a bell to you? Again, if you’re not comfortable in sharing the CP2 URL with us, you can contact us via this contact form and mention this thread. In that case, I’m also happy to have the site URL I mentioned redacted by the forum moderators.

CP1 & CP2 are the same URL. Jetpack somehow got confused and thought it was is https://www.absoluteinsights.io/. Not sure what went on there.

I had absolute running on CP1 and moved wakeuplookandsee to CP2. Jetpack thought they were the same. Not sure why.

    Hi @avantprime

I’m not sure why that happened either, but it does look to be resolved now. When cloning sites, you may be able to prevent this by using Staging Mode:

    https://jetpack.com/support/staging-sites/

If this happens again in the future, let us know and we can take another look.
