  • Hi there,

    I am still experiencing some problems.
    I have read: https://www.wpglobus.com/extensions-archive/multilingual-texts-in-wordpress-theme-options-panel/

    In my Theme Options I have added this into a text field: {:en}Capital{:}{:nl}Hoofdstad{:}
    The filtering is not happening (some titles display language tags aswell.)
    What data specifically do I have to add to the right field and click save?

    Thanks

    Hi Alex,

    Yes that’s the plugin I have installed.
    But I cannot find where I have to add something and click save to get it working.
    Thanks

    Yes I did,
    Is there a video tutorial on how to translate Theme Option fields?
    I love the plugin! I am just finding this difficult

    There is no video. It is simple actually.

    Then what am I missing?
    All I want is for the field in Theme Options to display the correct language instead of the tags like: {:en}Capital{:}{:nl}Hoofdstad{:}

    Man there is a lot of back and forth on this simple subject.

    Is the field in your theme able to be translated?

    If you cannot answer this, you may want to ask a programmer to get involved and 1. make it translatable, or, 2. create a child-theme and make it translatable.

    If you followed the instructions you were provided, when you searched for the field, you would have, or not have, found it listed.

    If you found it, you would add it to the Options for translate list.
    If you did not find it, it is because that field in your theme is not available for translation.

    To find this out, do the following:
    1. Log into WP-Admin as a user who is allowed to translate.
    2. Click on the WPGlobus > Translate Options menu
    3. Click on the link in the “Click to open Translate options page” paragraph.
    4. In the “Find text in the Options table:” field, enter the Field Name you need to translate.
    5. Click the Search button.

    If nothing shows up, that field in your theme is not set up to be translated, find a programmer and have them create a child-theme and set it up to be translated.

    There is more easy way to check. Just add all options to “Options for translate” box and save.

    Alex: I understand your reasoning and approach, but if brightdaymedia where to add “All options” from the list on the left, would that not make some of the icl tables very large and (due to MySQL inefficiencies) slow to the point where the translation filters ( {en:} ) will take long to be processed; then display correctly everywhere after a period of time?
    I have already seen this on slower servers with a normal amount of translation data.

    Also, there are the options that do not even pertain to the current theme (example: previous themes, WP themes, or previous plugins (deleted but not the data)) leftovers that did not clean up in WP upgrades).

    Seems to me this approach is taking a bulldozer to move a pebble ??
