How to translate plugins strings?

Hello,
I am using ninja forms plugin in a FR/EN site. Polylang is working wonderfully for everything, however there are some global strings from the forms (message labels such as
Fields marked with an * are required) which should be translating into French.The plugin has the necessary ninja-forms-fr_FR.po and ninja-forms-fr_FR.mo files in tis langauges folder. Should Polylang be pulling these in automatically? Shoud I be seeing these strings in the strings translation window to translate myself? I am only seeing the strings from WordPress in that window.
I have read the documentation here (https://polylang.wordpress.com/documentation/setting-up-a-wordpress-multilingual-site-with-polylang/strings-translation/) but I’m still not clear. Thanks for any help you can provide.
