How to time out emails in MailPoet#

    Hello,

    I finally just made the leap from MailPoet2 (with Sendgrid third party sending service) to the latest version of MailPoet3 (with MailPoet sending service).

    Under MailPoet2, there was a way to set the number of emails sent per hour. The number of 70 per hour was suggested at the time I configured the plugin.

    I don’t see this option under MailPoet3. My first newsletter was sent out to almost 300 addresses in less that 2 minutes! I’m worried this will result in my host blocking some of those emails. I there a way I can fix a limit with MailPoet3?

  • No need to throttle down when using MailPoet’s servers. They are design to shoot out all the mail quickly and efficiently. This has ZERO effect on your relationship with your internet provider and hosting service.

    BTW – if you were using SendGrid, there was no need to throttle that back either. I use mailgun and it’s super-fast.

    These super-low limits are meant for someone that is sending mail out through their own user account, through a service like aol, gmail, or earthlink, where it’s odd to send out one email every minute, much less a list of several hundred or several thousand in a row.

    These very low limits are for new users who know nothing about sending out newsletters, who might not understand the limits of their own host.

    Some hosts have hard limits, but sending one email per minute is extremely slow, even for the most conservative hosts. Your reputation is far more likely to suffer from sending our garbage, not sending to a good verified list quickly.

    In your case, it does not matter because SendGrid could easily handle 10,000 emails per minute and the built in service for Mail Poet 3 is probably similar.
