How do i install Third wordpress site (same server, same SQL)

  • I have two wordpress sites already on the same hosting server, linked to the same MySQL. They each have their own domains.

    I want to install a third wordpress site on a new domain, but have forgotten how this is done.

    Do I go through the usual installation process once the wordpress files have been put on my new domain’s root directory? Or do I need to manually edit something?

    I am worried if I install this third wordpress site it will mess up my others somehow. I’ve read multiple articles stating different things.

  • I would recommend a different directory for each site, then point each individual domain to a different directory. You can use one database for all the WordPress sites, but be sure you use a different database prefix (the default is “wp_”) so that existing database tables do not get overwritten with the new installation.
