    Hi everyone,

I need some help/clarification regarding plugin testing bought on woocommerce.com.
Already bought the plugin and got the license key for the plugin.
We need to test a plugin on our test site first before installing it on the live site to make sure everything runs smoothly.

I’ve read it in the FAQ that I’m able to install the plugin on a live site and on a testing/staging/development site simultaneously.

Do I need to first activate the plugin on the live site before adding it to the test site? The test site url is completely different, it’s not a subdomain. Is that a problem?

I just want to turn on the plugin on our test site to make sure it’s not causing any issues with another plugin. Can I just install it on the test site and enable the plugin itself? I guess this works the same as if it was activated, the only difference is I won’t have access to the plugin, but the plugin’s code is being loaded in the background so if there is any issue with compatibility I’ll be able to see that on the test site. Am I correct?

    Thanks for the help,
    Mark

    Hey Mark,

If you have purchased products from https://www.woocommerce.com, please feel free to contact us there. As a paying customer you’ll have access to our paid support, including live chat.

As for your question, you are allowed to activate a license on one staging site and one live site at the same time.

You can install the plugin and not activate the license if you want. That won’t prevent the plugin from working, it will only limit your ability to update the plugin on that site.

    Thank you.
Installed it on the test site without setting up the license for it and it works as expected.

    Thanks again for clarifying that!
