  • Can’t really test it unless you have that theme installed in a working 2.3.1 version of WordPress.

    Here’s an idea if you don’t have a 2nd test blog and it’s something WordPress users should have. Download and install XAMPP. This will install Apache webserver and mySQL database on your PC. Once you do that you can actually install WordPress on your computer. I do it for testing purposes all of the time. I also intentionally break things just to see how to fix them. Easy instructions here,

    Is it feasible to try installing wordpress on a subdomain of my own website and use that as a testing blog?

    Why not? Subdomain, subfolder – anything should work.
