I just created a new form and I would like to test it to make sure that it works. The only two email addresses I have to test it are ones that I have already used to test my MailChimp list in the past, and so they have been previously added to and deleted from my MailChimp list. I understand that those addresses can no longer be added via a third party form.

In this case, how do I test my new form?

    Thanks, Jesse

I am using MailChimp for WordPress v4.8.1 with the Brooklyn theme running WordPress 5.6

    Hey Jesse,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

You can first manually add those email addresses to your MailChimp.com account and then after enabling “Update Existing Users” option in our plugin, test the forms again.

    Hi Harish,

Thanks for your reply! How do you mean I should add the emails (I plan to use for testing) to my MailChimp.com account? As users ? I guess since I am on the Free level, I can only have one user, so I can’t add any more.

He meant just manually adding them as subscribers, or if they are subscribed already, turn on the “update subscribers” setting for the MC4WP form and update them via the form.

Another trick I like to use for testing is that Gmail ignores any dots in the name part of the email (before the @), while gmail sees them as unique emails.

So springerdesign@ gmail.com and springer.design@ gmail.com and sp.ri.ng.er.de.si.gn@ gmail.com etc all end up in the same gmail inbox but are all seen as unique individual emails by Mailchimp.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let me know!
