Bit of a naive question, any help appreciated before I start. I’m looking to replace a Genesis > Child Theme site using GeneratePress with a Child theme and if possible one of your demos. But, I’ve only ever built sites from scratch with Genesis, never replaced the theme once live. As a brief overview to I prevent any conflicts, how is the best way to do this? I will be using Premium and I’m wanting to install a child theme. Is it possible to install one of your demo sites, or does this need to be on a clean install?

Any tips please before I start to replace existing Genesis setup.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

I’ve answered your inquiry in pre-sale question form but here it is again:

The content (posts/pages/menus etc) should be stored with WordPress itself and not the theme.

So it should remain when you activate a new theme/or if you decided to activate the old theme again

The best way is to activate the free GeneratePress theme and go from there ??

I would personally clone your current site and put it on a staging server. Then you can make the changes without affecting your live website ??
