• I’m aiming to number my comments, for easy replying. I tried comment-id, in the comment loop but that keeps counting up the comments. I tried to throw a <ol><li> in there, but it kept starting from one every comment.

    Any ideas how to solve this? (Please don’t give me a parameter or template-tag only, because it will take me at least 3 hours to find where to paste it. I’m not that good at php ??

  • You could increment a variable in the loop.

    <?php $comment_count = 0; ?>
    <?php foreach ($comments as $comment) : ?>
       <?php if (get_comment_type() == 'comment') { ?>
    <?php $comment_count ++; ?>
    .... the rest of the code

    And then use this $comment_count to number your comments.

    I’m pretty sure I pasted it somewhere wrong, because I get an error: unexpected endforeach.

    I pasted it in the loop of the comment template, where I currently have this:

    <?php foreach ($comments as $comment) : ?>

    Could you paste the whole code so that I can have a look at where you pasted it?

    Don’t the comments automatically number themselves? Isn’t that the point of OL (Ordered List)? WHAT am I missing here?

    Here is the code of my comment template:

    It would help if you could make your code a little reading friendly.
