• Hi

I would like to stream a video to my wordpress blog from my dropbox account. I must do something wrong as the video cannot play as I get the error as media uploading. The video type is mp4 and it plays fine on dropbox. Would you be so kind as to provide step by step what I should do? I cannot put link of video neither the blog for confidential reason.

    Thank you so much
    M

Are you linking to the mp4 directly or the dropbox link? Where are you trying to run this?

    Hi

I am using the dropbox link. Basically I did the following:
    – I converted the video from vob(dvd) to mp4 container with ACC and h.264 format.
    – I uploaded onto my dropbox account.
    – I took the link of the video on dropbox.
    – I added a new page on wordpress
    – I clicked on “add media”, external media, pasted the link and insert in jwplayer
    – Tried to view the page and after some seconds of loading, I got the error.

    What’s wrong?
    Thanks

Can I see where you are trying to run this?

I really don’t understand your question. I tried to run it on a wordpress blog by adding onto a page a link of a video file from dropbox. I urgently needed it so now I just bought a vimeo plus account and everything is sorted. However, since many people may have the same sort of problem, and you says that your player can work with dropbox as server, why don’t you write here step by step how a user can stream a video from dropbox to a wordpress blog? It’s important to specify the parameters for the mp4 file.

That would be really helpful for many users and time effective for you instead of answering threads with the same sort of issue.

    Thanks

Yes, and I want to see a link to where you are trying to do this so I can see what is going on. Can you provide that?

I’m also trying to embed my dropbox video stored at: (https://www.dropbox.com/s/393c52vimvnvr7n/devinejamz-partnership.mp4) to my wordpress site at: (https://devinemarketers.com/test-page/).

    I used the following steps:

1.) from the “test page” where i want to place dropbox video, i clicked “add media”.
2.) then, i clicked “add external media”
3.) then, i place my drop box video url (https://www.dropbox.com/s/393c52vimvnvr7n/devinejamz-partnership.mp4) in the “media url’ text box and clicked “add to library”
4.) i add a title, then insert with jw player

as a result when i click on the video it reads “error loading media: file could not be played”

    That will not work.

Dropbox links are html pages, not direct links to mp4 files.

You need to get the direct link to the MP4 file.

OK, SO HOW DO I DO THAT? I WAS HOPING YOU GIVE ME A LITTLE MORE DETAILS, I’M NOT A CODER. I JUST KNOW THE BASICS!

Yes it works, thank you for your time! Can you please explain how did you get the direct mp4 link for my future reference? I would really appreciate it! I’m sure it will save time for others that read this thread.

I right clicked the download button on that page, and then I clicked copy link location. Np!

Excellent, I tried it on other videos and it’s working for them as well! Your support is very encouraging for upgrading the JW Player! Thank you again for your time!

    Np!

    Hi!

I have a little question about this. It′s possible to play a video bigger than the 8mb wordpress limit for multimedia archives?
If you add it to the wordpress library maybe it doesn′t work…

Thank you veru much for your support!!

    Hello again,

I try it whith a 13mb video and it works fine, so the question is resolved. But the video doesn′t play well, I mean, it goes slow and with little “jumps”, not fluid. I don′t know if this depends on the dropbox data speed or the quality of the video (it′s a 1920×1080 video). My conexion is good.

    Dou you have an Idea?

    Thanks!
