• I’m looking to find a way to allow users to store their category preferences: for example “Art”. This way, when a user returns to the site she will be presented categories she has already selected. This feature seems prevalent in apps such as FlipBook, Smartnews and others.

  • Hi @upstateny

This inquiry has probably been sitting here for a while because it’s a pretty vague request revolving around a tall order (from volunteer support). I recommend seeking out a developer to help you set up cookies on your site to do something like this. Shouldn’t be too hard for a developer, but would involve custom development… unless you have already perused all the available plugins and haven’t found one which coincidentally meets your exact needs. Check out jobs.wordpress.net and codeable.io

Excuse the vagueness. If I have two categories, like “Apples” and “Oranges, I’d like users to be able to pick a choice and then only see posts matching that choice. In other words, users who choose “Apple” posts would not see “Orange” posts.

I know membership plugins can restrict content, but I’m not sure how to save a choice, as can be done with Users/Edit with “First Name,” for instance. What would be nice is if something similar could be done with categories. For instance, a user could enter her category choice.

Another option would be to use a cookie to store choices, but example code I’ve seen only describes how “Hello <username>” could be output.
