How to stop wordpress from wrapping everything in p-tags?

  • I’m using WordPress with the GigPress Plugin.

    It outputs a simple table with some <span> in every <td>. So far, so good. But why does WordPress wraps every <span> with an <p> element and even puts some empty <p> tags in there?

    How could I stop WordPress doing this with content coming from a plugin? I tried WP Unformatted just a moment ago but it doesn’t change anything.
