The last few versions have slowly broken things, up till 2.0 it was just annoying little interface problems that I worked around. 2.0 is horrible, giving me a blank upload page entirely so I rolled back. I’m done with the changes, I don’t need anything else ‘improved’ and just want to remove the update notice. Some themes/plugins give you a handy checkbox in the options to disable the auto check, this obviously doesn’t. Can I just edit a text file somewhere to put in a fake higher version number or something? I’ve been able to do that with a couple in the past but I know some are different.

Here’s the answer. Open nggallery.php and simply change the version number to something later (I used 99). No more ‘update’ check i.e. we break yur stuff check.

Thanks for this. I didn’t upgrade – thank goodness – but the update notice would throw my clients if it remained when I turn it over to them to manage the site
If you don’t mind I would like to tag this as “remove upgrade notice” too.
