How To Stop Language Updates Entirely?

  • This unresolved but closed post asked a question, quite a long time ago, that I have now.

    My title is asking the question, if anyone knows the answer, I’d love to hear it. If I delete the entire “languages” folder, it doesn’t report that languages “need” updating when I log in and use FTP. But I’m betting that the next WP release will put it all back again.

    I will be looking for answers, and I’ll try to remember to come back and report if I find, say, a good plugin that keeps the language from updating etc. I don’t need the languages on my site at all. YMMV.

    How does it harm you to have that folder? Just wondering.

    The languages ship with WP, so I’m not sure there’s a way to opt-out of getting them.

    That’s too bad. I’ll just delete it. As I said, YMMV.
