How to stop developers from contacting me to offer their services
-
I purchased a new domain and, several months later, published a very basic website that I have not announced, publicized or used to reach customers, etc. Almost immediately, I started receiving emails from “developers” asking me if I want to hire them. Some of the emails seem personalized as though they have visited the site. However, the ‘spam’ they are sending is not coming from the site’s contact form. They are using an email address – info@ + mydomain.com – to contact me.
I know the site is public, but how are they finding it or what is driving these “developers” to my site? Is there some sort of announcement that gets sent out when anyone publishes a site and, more importantly, can it be turned off?
The domain was originally purchased via google, then squarespace became the registrar. I have the “whois” turned on. I have hosting through another company and am blocking the individual email accounts which are coming from outlook and hotmail addresses.
Thank you
