How to stop a post from going out to followers

I have posts in which I insert a quote but I don’t want them to be sent to my followers. I just want them to show on my front page in between post summaries. I have found some code for stopping them going out to my RSS feed followers but I need to stop them going out to my WP followers who, I think, are collected through Jetpack. Does anyone know how to do this? These quotes are all in a particular category so I could exclude that category from being sent out if I knew how.
