How to show WooCommerce related products when using subcategories or nested?

  • It seems that WooCommerce does not factor in the subcategories that are nested in a parent category.

    For example: If I had a parent category of shoes and sub categories of Nike and Adidas, and I’m on a product in the Nike category the related products will show only the parent category of shoes.

    Seems like an oversight.

    Anyone have a function or plugin that would factor sub categories in the WooCommerce related product algorithm?
