How to show user profiles on your website?
-
I know this sounds ridiculous, but I’m finding many thing since I moved from blogger to a self-hosted WordPress ridiculous. And this is just one in a myriad of them.
In blogger, I had a very nice and simple feature called user profile widget, that simply enabled visitors to click on a link with my nickname displayed that would take them to my Blogger profile page.
Like this: https://i.imgur.com/jIGvv.jpg
Now, on my shiny new self-hosted WordPress, I can’t seem to find any similar feature. When I click on My Profile I get the option to do many things, but putting up an avatar or displaying My Profile page isn’t one of them. Likewise, in the Widgets area, there is no such widget. I don’t want for the readers to be seeing that stupid default “Mystery Man” and other funny images next to my comments.
So I went further, and saw some people were using a thingy called Gravatars. So I made myself a profile and all. But now I can’t find the option to put this Gravatar widget on my actual site. Like these people have:
I have Jetpack installed, and it says Gravatar hovercards are enabled, but the option to actually put them on your site isn’t to be found anywhere.
Then I find a plugin which supposedly displays Gravatars… Install. Activate. Put in sidebar. Oh, look, only displays info for ONE author, where we have multiple. Remove from sidebar. Deactivate. Uninstall. Search for another… here it is. Install. Activate. “This plugin does not have a valid header.” Uninstall. Find another…
And repeat… and repeat… and repeat.
I would be grateful for some help, because this little trivial issues are slowly driving me insane. I’ve had it with all those goddamn plugins, and I’m sick of all the searching/installing/uninstalling.
So can somebody please, for the love of god, point me to that Gravatar plugin which the side above has?
Thank you
