• Hi,

With the Published date, it seems that the effective Date of upload is displayed.
But, as I migrate to WP, I’d like to set the date under QuickEdit.
    (Plugin Download/ All Downloads/ QuickEdit/ Date)

Is there any option to display this date? (Shortcode or so?)
Or would it make sense to display this date in general?

    Thx Beat

    Ps.: Great Plugin – thanx!

    Hi Beat,

If you use the display option checkbox to show the date to users the you can set the date in either edit or quick edit and the plugin will display whichever date you set.

Is this what you were after?

    Cheers,

    Nik

    Hi Nik,

Thx for the fast reply. But, nope – it’s not working like this in my case.
It would be solved if working like this…

Seems then to be a local problem? Even if all other Plugins are deactivated.

    Hi Nik,

small update – after some tests.

In my case, the published Date is the Published date of the whole Page!
But like this, all downloads/documents on this page have the same published date… Not as expected ??

    Cheers, Beat

    Hi Beat,

It’s possible your host has some sort of caching scheme running that’s delaying the correct output, but it should have been corrected by now. While it shouldn’t matter, it’s worth completely flushing your browser’s cache with either CTRL + F5 or CMD + shift + R depending on whether your on Win or Mac , then loading a page in a new tab or window. Try the easy things first ??

You could also try using the Health Check plugin and see how you go.

    Cheers,

    Hey Beat,

    Thats odd??

WP by default lets you change the published date of a post and thats all your download is.. a custom post.

See this Article for more info.

    Hi Nik,

I’m not using it in a Post – I’ve created a “standard” Page and offering some Docs for download. Example with Date 1919

    Hey Beat,

The Better File Download downloads are custom post types, each one is a custom post (trust me, I built it) and you are displaying them on a page.

I can only think that it’s something to do with your theme. If you have a Dev or local environment and can still be bothered, try switching themes just to see if that helps.

    Hi Nik,

Btw – thaks a lot for all your help on this!

I did a page copy, used the WP theme twenty nineteen and deactivated all other Plugins – but, no change… Example still 1919

I did also remove my changes to color, translation etc.

    Hey Beat,

Maybe it’s got something to do with the date format settings in your WordPress general settings?

If you’ve set some sort of custom date, it may be invalid. Try setting it to d.m.y Instead. Otherwise, I’m running out of ideas ??

Let me know how you go.

    Hi Nik,

Nope, when changing the date format – I can see the different formats directly on the page, but still the wrong date…

OK, I’ll not display the date ??

    Thanks a lot, Beat

    Hi Nik,

    Thanks a lot for trying!
Anyway, I’ll keep the Plugin – and check from time to time ??

However, I did one last test – starting from scratch with only defaults and just your plugin, and still same same!
So, my guess – its related to the language distribution or some hoster defaults of WP…
    I’m using here “Version 5.2.3–de_DE”
If you need any more tests, just let me know.

    Thx, Beat
