I’m trying to set up pages that non-members can view to see the various blog posts but restrict them when they click into the post. Either I’m doing something wrong or this requires a Plus upgrade. I thought I’d be able to show featured images and excerpts on the homepage, for instance, to drive interest to the posts and then if non-members click into the post then they get the restriction/sign up message.

I’m reading the documentation and watching the videos but cannot figure it out.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

When I restrict the posts to members only, then the posts to do appear in the category page, or other pages that have shortcodes to display those posts. I thought that the restriction would only restrict the non-member from viewing the actual post page, but be able to view the preview of the post inside the category page (since the category is not restricted, but the post is).

Hey, I think I figured it out! I went back into settings and found:

Content Settings > Filter searches and archives?
No – Non-members will see restricted posts/pages in searches and archives.
Now the posts appear on categories and pages that do not have restrictions, but when non-members go to the post page they only see the except and the restriction message.

Thanks for the feedback here @suitedconnector, the Content Settings > Filter Searches and Archives does affect events and is ‘tied’ to this option.

Once the user tries to view that event they should see limited event information until they become a member with the corresponding membership level access.
