• Photonic is the answer to almost all my dreams of integrating Google Photos into WordPress. But I’ve got one problem that I haven’t been able so solve yet:

How can I get it to present the image description info from Google Photo a caption or overlay for each image when presenting an album as a slideshow?

Here’s an example of a page, where I would like the user to see the image description in connection to the image. Either below on top or by hover. (Or even as a caption to the thumbnails below the slideshow.

    I currently use this shortcode:
    [photonic type='google' view='photos' album_id='xxxx' main_size='1200' fx='fade' pause='0' speed='1000' strip-style='thumbs' controls='hide' layout='strip-below']
    I’m using Fancybox 3.

This should hopefully be doable from a couple of places.

First, if you want the setting to apply to all your Google Photos galleries, you can set up a global option under Photonic → Settings → Google Photos → Photos (Main Page) → Photo Title Display

Alternatively, you can control this individually for each gallery via the title_position attribute, where you can pass hover-slideup-show or slideup-stick. It overrides the title positioning that you have set via the previous method through your options. This should also be available through the gallery wizard.

I know that there are some limitations while doing a slideshow instead of a gallery – some title options don’t work for slideshows. Instead if you have a gallery, like a Justified Grid or a Masonry layout or a Mosaic Layout, the “slide up” options work quite reliably.

Note that the usage of Fancybox3 is not applicable to you, since slideshows are not integrated with lightboxes.
