Hi. How do I get the image captions to appear in the slideshow? The pics in my test page all show titles and captions in the media collection, and I have checked “Enable default title” in simple lightbox’s setting.

A somewhat related question: other than %current% and %total%, are there other variables I can use for slideshow status?

    Great plugin, by the way!

    Thanks much,

    Juan

Hi, captions are displayed automatically for media library items. However, the WordPress is not detecting the images at the link you provided as part of the site’s media library.

It appears that the image link URLs have been modified to point to an external image file, not the file stored in the site’s media library. As a result, WordPress cannot retrieve captions for the images.

This may be due to using a CDN or offloading service/plugin. If you are using such a service/plugin, please disable the plugin and refresh the page to test whether captions are displayed for the links. If so, then please provide the name/link to the CDN plugin you are using.

%current% and %total% are the only variables available for slideshow status. Are there other values aside from the current slide and the total number of slides that you would need?

    Thanks.

Hi Archetyped – I’m encountering the same issue on all my posts.
Previous versions of SLB was showing the description field in the slideshow, but it’s not working on my blog.

    Here’s a link to a post with a slideshow:

@sydlow Was the site moved from HTTP to HTTPS using a plugin? This and other incomplete HTTPS migrations may prevent WordPress from being able to identify the images as part of the site’s media library, and thus WP cannot retrieve the captions, descriptions, etc. for the images.

A full HTTPS migration, including updating the URLs of media library attachments int the site’s database is recommended to ensure that files remain attached to the media library.

Thanks – how does one do that? What do you suggest I do to rectify?

Figured it out – It was the Site Address (URL) value in the Multi Site setting that needed to be changed to https.

@sydlow Next time you’ve got a question and need help, please ask your question in a new topic instead of using somebody else’s thread.
I’m going to close this old thread for new comments now.
