How to Shorten the Length of Automated Blog Excerpts on the Presentation Page?

    I’ve created a Presentation page that has the module at the bottom that pulls the latest blog posts. Everything is working swimmingly. However, the excerpts that it is pulling for the blog section are extremely long. They take up the full height of my 14-inch laptop’s page. It makes it appear as though it is pulling the full post, it is so long. It’s not pulling the full post—I have WordPress Settings>Reading set to show summaries, and it does have the ellipses plus the “Read More” button, so it isn’t the whole post. But it is super long! And on top of that, the excerpt/summary strips out all the formatting, so there are no paragraphs breaks, just one big ugly wall of text.

    I know I can create a manual excerpt, but I’m not the one who’s going to be writing these posts and I don’t think the author will take the time to do that. How/where can I change the number of words that the theme is pulling for these summaries?

    Have you tried the plugin, Advanced Excerpt? I installed that one on a site today and it works great.

    Excerpts are automatically generated by WordPress and do not include any kind of formatting. The theme does provide an option to select the length of this excerpt, though.

    If you want finer control over your excerpts you should consider using either manual excerpts or plugins.
