    Hi

i read google doc about Sitekit and GTM but im not sure the right way to set up this

Google doc says the best way to implement GA is with GTM, as it will be easier to deal with later by adding new tags on GTM anytime needed

On sitekit plugin, we can setup GTM, but first it asks us to setup GA

so im confused when reading those guides :

    https://developers.google.com/tag-platform/devguides

    https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/11898619

can you describe what is the best way, step by step to do it

should i create a GTM first before i set up the sitekit plugin ?

how GA will be created and added to GTM automatically by sitekit plugin ?

    please explain

    thanks ??

Hello @deepblue5 thanks for getting in touch. You can choose to do this both ways you have suggested and ultimately the decision on which way you choose to do it is yours. If you wish to set up Analytics within Tag Manager then you can do this first by following these steps. Once you have done this you will be able to connect the Analytics and Tag Manager modules within the Site Kit plugin with your GTM container and Analytics property.

The other option would be to set up the Analytics and Tag Manager modules from within Site Kit, here you can choose to select an existing container/property for each module or create new ones.

I hope this helps to answer your question but if you need any further help then please let me know.

can you detail how i should proceed (in the right order) to avoid any mistake ?

    thank you ??

@deepblue5 As stated in the support topic you have shared you can use Site Kit to insert your Analytics snippet, while also keeping your Tag Manager container snippet placed on your site. It’s not a problem to have both placed.

If you have a Analytics tag contained within your Tag Manager container you can modify the “Place Google Analytics 4 code” option if you wish, as Site Kit can display data based on this Tag Manager Analytics property. Just ensure that you have connected the Analytics module within Site Kit to the same Analytics property added via Tag Manager.

So to summarize, you can have a Analytics snippet added via Site Kit if you wish, while also having a Analytics tag added within your Tag Manager container. If using Tag Manager, you can disable the placement of Site Kit’s Analytics snippet, while still viewing Analytics data within the Site Kit dashboard.

The choice on how you do this is yours and there is no right or wrong way if you choose either of these options.

Let me know if you have any further questions with the above.
