• I have two galleries installed on my site: Photocrati and NextGem and both work just fine with my theme. What I need urgently it to create a page for a specific user, where he would be able to see the pictures and download the ones he want. All I want to do is upload the pictures and they would be displayed in simple columns, each showing the file name without extention and a he would select the pictures what would be downloaded on a single shot. I am prepared to pay for the plugin, I just don’t know where I can find it and I have been trying to find it on the net for the past 2 days. Now I’m in such a hurry, that I hope somebody will come up with a solution for me. Thank you!

  • You can with Lightbox. You click the image and it opens in the lightbox effect then you can click on the caption to download the image. Provided you fill in the info for the Alt & Title Text / Description.

Lately I’ve been recommending the following :

I use jQuery Lightbox (balupton edition).

Make sure in Gallery->Options->Effects had the following setting :

    JavaScript Thumbnail effect: Lightbox

    Link Code line: rel=”lightbox[%GALLERY_NAME%]”

    https://balupton.github.com/jquery-lightbox/demo/

    You’ll see the download.

After the plugin has been installed you find jQuery Lightbox in the setting section of the admin bar.

You can try my site : https://www.doublesixx.com

    Good luck.

Thank you for your time and suggestion. I really appreciate it!

I tried your suggestion, however, I have been unable to figure out how to generate captions by simply assuming the file names. I have too many pictures to type captions one by one, while create the galleries.
I assume that if I figure out how to fix that part, then your suggestion will work like a charm, as it does on your website.

Do you happen to know how I can force NextGen to include the file name as a caption?

In the meantime, I found this plugin that works like a charm, if a shortcode is aapplied to the page of a gallery.

But I couldn’t understand their explanation for use with an album.

    Oh well …

    Just found the solution!

The above nextgen-download plugin shortcode to work with albums
    is: [ nggalbum id=1 template=extend gallery=download ].
And it does show file names as captions!

Your solution is pretty good too, and I’ll have that in mind when working with fewer pictures because I don’t like to use file names. But for a huge batch of pictures, this is a an option when we don’t want to waste our time typing captions.

    Thank you again, DoubleSixx!

Um the caption problem you’re having has a very easy solution.

    Gallery->Manage Gallery

Select any gallery, and you can fill that all in without having to change the code.

    Good luck.

Sure. But when I have to upload 200+ pictures, I’d rather use the file name instead ??
