    Hi guys,

    Just a quick one!

When setting up a WordPress site, do you install WordPress on the root of your host or within a /blog/ folder?

I have installed it to the root and am not sure how to have a site list as my navigation and also have a list of posts for my home page?

I’ve been having a look through the ‘Docs’ section but I can’t seem to figure it out ??

    Cheers,

    Mitch.

  • You can install it wherever you wish to. If you installed it in your root directory it should show up unless there is already an index.html file in there. point your browser to https://www.yoursite.com/index.php and see if it comes up (i do not know if you got past installing it onto the server or just uploading the files. Hope this helps

I have got the home page coming up which i created a ‘Page’ called home.

I did this so I could get a home button on my navigation, but now i’m unsure how to get the home page to display my latest posts as it does by default! :S

My site is up at https://www.mitchellmcleod.com/

    Thanks for the help!

Go to here https://mitchellmcleod.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php make sure that it the static radio is not picked, make sure it is the first option.

I am trying to get what you mean, it seems a bit jumbled to me but hopefully this is what you want.

Sorry for not being more clear, not sure how to explain it!

If I tick that then the first page appears as I want it to, but then the home button on the nav doesn’t go back to that page, which is probably the main question, how do I get the home button to link to the posts?

Do I manually add a home button to the navigation or can I do this through the wordpress interface?

what code are you using for your navigation? refer to the following.

I am sure someone will come along with the exact code you want. Its late I been up for like 36 hours lol. Sorry I cannot be of more help right now.

I’m just using the standard WP list pages with my own css applied to it. The standard list just doesn’t come with a ‘Home’ page as such.
