Not sure how to approach giving clients access to their galleries. I think I prefer to not display thumbnails for everyone to see so, if I have this right, this means that in Sunshine Photo Cart I should set the galleries to Private which then requires me to select the WP users who will have access to that gallery.

My issue is, how do people handle user creation for clients? Do you create accounts for your clients? or do you tell them to go to your website and register? (assuming this would require some other plugin to create a better registration page because most clients would probably be confused by the regular word press login page). Any suggestions?

I see a situation happening with waiting on the clients to register before being able to select their user for the gallery, but if they register then they will log in and be waiting on you to add them to that gallery.

And, on the other hand, if I create an account for a client, what if I don’t have an email for a particular person? sometimes all I have is a cell phone number or we’re communicating through IM. would it be ok to use a placeholder email (maybe [email protected] or something like that?)

  • This is a great question and by the lack of response, there isn’t an ideal. It’s a chick or the egg situation for sure.

I think most everyone understands you have to have an email address to do anything online. If you are only communicating with someone via text you need to ask for an email address.

For those that do Private galleries, they are creating accounts for their users, then the gallery and then sending them the gallery URL and login information.

Here is a Doc article on other options to keep clients from seeing other galleries: https://www.sunshinephotocart.com/docs/dont-let-clients-see-other-galleries/
