How to set default article quantity to “1”?

When a user adds an article into the basket, the default quantity is undefined: so the user later is forced to select “1” (or other quantity, up to 10) from the drop-down menu… because the default value is “null”
And this is quite annoying, and not intuitive (there’s nothing near the quant drop-down menu that suggests it’s the required quantity… to the user needs to guess he needs to specify the quantity).
So, the question is: how can I define the default quantity from “null” to “1”?
