How to – Seperate Sidebar and TopBar links?

  • How do I set up my sight to display a separate set of links in the top navigation bar, and in the sidebar? I am unable to set up the sidebar presentation to exclude top navigation bar links, and can not locate a plugin to help me with this functionality.

    Along the top navigation bar, I want the standard links: Home, FAQ, Contact, About, and so on. Along the side bar, I want specific links: Subject 1, Subject 2, Subject 3, and so on.

    I have not been able to find the right plugin/configuration for this mixture yet. I thank you in advance for your assistance. Cheers,

    Subject = Cars. My sight is discussing a couple of classic cars, so I want the side links to be “Mustang 67-70”, “Cobra 57”, and “Thunderbird 62”

    All of the link structures seem to place the top nav links into the side bar, or place the side links into the top nav bar. I want to keep the two groups completely separate.

    No, I meant in WP terms.
    “subject” is not part of the WordPress lingo. In the menus there are Pages and categories, archives lists and stuff like that.

    Edit your theme: the header.php and the sidebar.php template files.
    Everything that is displayed it is done by Template_Tags

    Can’t. I’m already using categories for my blog postings, “Engine Upgrades”, “Sound Systems”, ect. If I list categories in the sidebars, then these links for all of these categories show up as well.

    So, you mean I need to go into the code to make this navigation change? Ug. I’d thought there would be some plugin, or combination, to deploy for these changes. Being able to control the navigation of a site would practically be a FAQ, so I would think greater minds than mine have already tackled this issue.
