How to send only excerpt to subscribers and not full post when published?

    When I publish a post, my subscribers are receiving full post in the email.

    I read few posts saying there is an option to change in Reading tab from Full text to Excerpt, but I don’t see anything like that in settings. I am on jetpack free subscription.

    Am I missing anything? Appreciate any help.

    Hi there!

    This option is available in the WordPress.com dashboard, you will go to Manage>Settings>Writing and scroll down to Feed settings. There you will find the option to Limit feed to excerpt only.

    It read it somewhere and I enabled it. I don’t think it resolved my issue. But I am gonna try again by publishing another post.

    Do you think this has to do anything with my theme?

    Hi there,

    The content of the email that Jetpack sends whenever you publish a new post is based on that setting which is a core WordPress feature. So, I doubt it that’s related to Jetpack.

    If you let me know your site’s address I can have a look and see if I can find more.

    On your feed https://www.isansjourney.com/feed/ I’m not seeing the entries as I’d expect for WordPress full content or summary feeds.

    Are you using another plugin to modify your feeds?

    Hi James,

    This has been missing for a while. I tried to access my feed thru this link earlier as well when I want to implement something in my blog but it doesn’t come up.

    Is that my theme? I am gonna check with the theme support team too.

    But no I am not using any plugins that will affect my feed. At least not that I am aware of.

    How else can I check?

    Are you using any page builder plugin? Some page builders are known to interfere with a site’s RSS feed.

    I am sorry Fotis for the delayed response.

    I have installed Elementor page builder but deactivated it now.

    I do get feed as XML page. Is this good now?

    I can see my posts with excerpts. Can you confirm? I really appreciate all your help and patience.

    Yes, your posts’ feed contains only an excerpt and you have to visit the site to view the whole entry.
