I’ve installed the Annotum Base theme and now cannot reverse the operation because I cannot pull up the Dashboard or the Themes page. Attempting (while logged in) to pull up the Dashboard at:

    https://dedicto.com/wordpress1/wp-admin/

    yields the error message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /data/15/1/116/126/1768452/user/1911904/htdocs/wordpress1/wp-admin/includes/template.php on line 558

likewise I cannot pull up the Themes page at:

    https://dedicto.com/wordpress1/wp-admin/themes.php

    this yields the error message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7680 bytes) in /data/15/1/116/126/1768452/user/1911904/htdocs/wordpress1/wp-admin/includes/template.php on line 308

I would like to revert to Twenty Eleven 1.4; is there any way to do this short of restoring from backup?

  • Backup database, and upload new wp-admin/includes/template.php

Via FTP or whatever file management tools, navigate to the wp-content/themes/annotum-base directory and delete just that one annotum-base directory. Nothing else.

Immediately after that, visit your Theme’s page in the WordPress dashboard.

    https://dedicto.com/wordpress1/wp-admin/themes.php

If all goes well, you’ll get a message about a missing theme and you’ll revert to Twenty Eleven by default.

Thanks so much, Jan Dembowski! I followed your instructions, and deleting the annotum-base directory fixed the problem in exactly the way you said. Since Twenty Eleven was the default theme, it was chosen for reversion when Annotum Base was found to be missing.
