I have a site that is build in Portuguese, where Portuguese is the main/default language.
The second (and only) language it is translated to, is English.

I installed a plugin on this site, however the plugin is by default in english, so on the Portuguese site all it’s strings display in English.

When trying to translate with Translatepress, It assumes by default that he plugin strings language are in Portuguese and, therefore, must be translated to english (as usual).

I would like to make the reverse, as this plugin is already in english, and translate the strings to Portuguese.

Is this possible? how to achieve it?
Or would I be required to resort to another translation plugin like LocoTranslate?

Thank you in advance for the attention and advice.

  • Hello there,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

You should be able to translate these strings by opening the Translation Editor => String Translation => Gettext.

Here you can translate gettext from the language they are displayed in to the original language of the website.

Let me know if this helps.
