how to restore wp 3.1 db to wp 3.8

  • I have wp 3.1 db backup and I installed wp 3.8 to new machine. Is it possible to upgrade or convert th database?
    please help.

    ”’db_version”’ for WordPress releases:
    3.8 = 26691
    3.1 = 17056

    and I’ve checked wp-admin/options-general.php but I didnt find where to change value.

    You cannot upgrade the database itself. You’d need to install WP 3.1, restore the db backup and then, carry out a series of smaller manual upgrades (see Upgrading_WordPress_Extended for the full details).
