How to restore translation after update?

  • Hello,

    after the latest update, all my translation (into German) has been removed and now it is back into English. How can I restore to German now?

    Hi @niclasto,

    Please change file names of your .po/.mo files from e.g “ultimatemember-en_US” to “ultimate-member-en-US” you can find these files in wp-content/languages/plugins/

    Hey,

    the names are already “de_DE” but the login submit form for example is still shown in English for my visitors. Do I additionally have to change something?

    We had to change the textdomain from “ultimatemember” to “ultimate-member” to make UM compatible with the WP.org translation system.

    Hey,

    one more question because I am not very familiar with this issue. All I have to do is to change the filename of all my po/mo files from ultimatemember-de_DE” to ultimate-member-de_DE” to make the translation work again?

    Concerning this: If i change the language manually within the templates, for example I translate the text ‘forgot your password’ into German, would it be removed again when I update the plugin next time?

    thanks for this answer @ultimatemember, I was looking for this fix.

    @niclasto: You only have to change the name of your old translation files. The files inside /wp-content/languages/plugins aren’t affected by plugin updates.
